Welcome Home

dir. Jimmy Joe Roche

2:52 minutes

Welcome Home continues a dialog in my work between video and painting, tensions between narrative and abstraction, and  pendulum swings between minimalist and maximalist aesthetics.

More broadly; for several years my video work has explored the brackish waters in which several moving image art forms intermingle. Traditional cinematic forms, the raw aesthetic tradition of video performance art and the “new” YouTube vernacular of hand held and single shot talking head rant intermingle into various hybrids.
